A man has been detained in Haiti after being accused of murdering his wife and children in the US state of Florida.
The bodies of his wife and their five children, ages 9 years to 11 months, were found slain inside their apartment in Naples, Florida.

The Haitian man, Mesac Damas, was captured Monday morning in Haiti's capital, Port au Prince, where he allegedly told local police that he had planned to surrender and had only returned to Haiti to say goodbye to his family.

Damas was hiding in a house when he was captured by members of the Haiti national police.
Damas has not been charged in the slayings but Florida police have said he is wanted for questioning as a person of interest.
