LIAT plane returns to Grenada airport after low oil pressure

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, September 11, 2009 LIAT

A LIAT plane en route to Trinidad from Grenada returned to the Maurice Bishop International Airport Friday morning, as a precautionary measure.

Flight LI 303, with 44 passengers on board, was in the process of climbing to the required altitude when an engine low oil pressure indication was observed in the cockpit.

The captain performed a precautionary engine shutdown and returned to Grenada for landing.
Emergency services were on standby as a precautionary measure and the landing was uneventful.

Affected passengers have been accommodated on other LIAT services.
The aircraft is being examined by the company’s maintenance staff to diagnose and rectify the problem.
