Local police on lookout for Florida man wanted in slaying of family

Paul Local police are on the lookout for a man accused of gunning down four family members in Florida on Thanksgiving Day.

Paul Michael Merhige, 35, is accused of murdering his twin sisters, his aunt and a six year old cousin in a home in Jupiter, Fla., according to a press release from Jupiter police.

Jupiter police, in a story in today’s Palm Beach Post, said Merhige had seen a doctor in Michigan, and that they were extending their search here.

Birmingham police today confirmed they had been alerted that Merhige might be headed to Michigan but declined to offer details about his connection to the city.

Merhige, according to Jupiter police, ate dinner with family members, left the home, but returned back to the house later and shot Makayla Sitton, 6, his sisters Lisa Knight and Carla Merhige, both 33, and his aunt, Raymonde Joseph, 76, of Jupiter.
