Pupil beaten after killing boy

Murdered schoolboy Malik Hillaire

A 13-year-old schoolboy was stabbed to death mere metres from his home yesterday afternoon.

He was identified as Malik Hillaire, a form one pupil of the Barataria Senior Comprehensive.

Police said Hillaire was stabbed in the chest by a 15-year-old pupil of Malick Government Secondary, who is a form four pupil from La Horquetta. The attacker formerly resided at Locust Hill, Malick, police said.

According to police reports, the two boys got into an argument around 4.45 p.m. at Third Avenue, Barataria, and the 15-year-old stabbed Hillaire in the chest and ran away.

Relatives of Hillaire chased his attacker and caught him near the nearby Himalaya Club.

Hillaire was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mt Hope with the knife still lodged in his chest. He later died undergoing emergency treatment.

His alleged attacker was also warded at Port of Spain General Hospital (PoSGH) under police guard last night, after he was beaten by residents after they caught him. He was said to be in stable condition.
