Relatives of murdered teenager Arnim Best are demanding answers as to why there are not proper surveillance cameras installed at the Trincity Mall in Trincity.
Best, 17, of Alexander Street, Tacarigua, was stabbed to death on Saturday night, while liming with friends at the mall. His relatives said yesterday that had cameras been ’properly installed, then images of his killers would be available to police’.
Police reports state that at around 8.15 p.m., Best and his friends, among them Brendon George, 18, also of Tacarigua, were liming inside the mall, in the vicinity of the food court, when they were approached by another group. An argument started and a fight soon ensued.
The teens were eventually escorted out the mall by security officers. Upon reaching outside, however, the group which opposed Best’s group once again started an argument and the fight resumed.
Best was stabbed multiple times during the brawl, while George also sustained injuries.
Best was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mt Hope, but died upon arrival. George was rushed to the Arima Health Facility and then transferred to the EWMSC. Homicide detectives are continuing investigations.
