GEORGETOWN, Guyana, December 7, 2009 - A month after a 23-year-old woman jumped off Guyana's Kaieteur Falls, police are investigating the discovery of the body of a gold miner at the bottom of the same 741-foot drop.

The dead man is believed to be Rennie Michael Leslie who had been missing since last Sunday, November 29th after taking a relative to the Kaieteur Landing in his canoe.

After leaving his family member he headed back to his camp, travelling along the Potaro River on which the Falls is located. His worksite was just a few miles away from the waterfall, but Leslie never made it.

It is believed Leslie may have got caught in the rapids, drowned, and his body swept over the Falls.

In November, Aliya Bulkan committed suicide at Guyana's largest single drop waterfall during a tour of the Kaieteur National Park.

One of the tourists on the trip reported that, as the group was leaving the Falls, Bulkan turned back and headed in the direction of the waterfall and started to scream before jumping off.

Her body was later recovered by members of the Guyana Defence Force.
