Finland gunman found dead after killing five

Gunman Ibrahim Shkupolli, 43, shot dead three men and one woman when he opened fire at the huge Sello shopping mall, one of the largest in Scandinavia.

Shortly before the attack he had shot dead his ex-girlfriend, who worked in the shopping mall, in her home.

After embarking on the killing spree, Shkupolli fled the mall and was on the run for several hours before police found his body in his apartment in Espoo, six miles west of Helsinki. He had apparently committed suicide.

The Kosovo Albanian was known to police and had been issued with a restraining order to stop him approaching his former partner.

It was the third such massacre in Finland in about two years, and once again raised questions about gun control in the Nordic country where hunting is popular.

The attack caused panic among hundreds of people who were doing last-minute shopping for New Year's Eve.
