Kabul, Afghanistan (AHN) - Afghan and international security forces have killed more than two dozen supposed Taliban militants and captured several others in Kunduz province, northern Afghanistan, according to reports Thursday from NATO’s International Security Assistance Force.
ISAF reported a gun battle with insurgents Wednesday night as security forces pursued a senior Taliban leader into the village of Kharid-e Olya. No civilian casualties were reported.
Security forces arrested 40 alleged Taliban members in Helmand province, according to a government spokesman.
The operation, which lasted nearly three hours, occurred in the Nawzad district of the province, reports from the province stated.
