Two of the nine people killed in a hostage-taking aboard a tour bus in the Philippines on Monday were sisters from Canada, Hong Kong media reported Tuesday.
Jessica Leung, 14, and Doris Leung, 21, were killed in gunfire during the hostage-taking, their mother told Hong Kong Cable Television. The two, who were students in Canada, were travelling in the Philippines as Canadian citizens, she said.
Tour organizers had said earlier that five of the people involved in the hostage-taking were carrying Canadian passports.
Canada's Foreign Affairs Department said Canadian citizens may have been on the bus, and that the Canadian mission in Manila was working closely with local authorities to get more information.
