There are now 399 inmates at Her Majesty’s Prison in Kingstown.
Chief Prison Officer, Brian Andrews made the announcement -during a ceremony to mark the closing of the June 2010 High Court Criminal Assizes on Friday.
The prison population includes 125 males sentenced by the High Court and 169 males sentenced by the Magistrates court.
Five females were sentenced by the High Court while six females are awaiting preliminary investigation.
Fifteen males are awaiting preliminary investigation while two are awaiting sentencing.
Twenty three males and three females are awaiting trial for murder.
Nineteen non-nationals are currently serving sentences while two non-nationals are on remand.
Two prisoners, Shorn Samuel and Patrick Lovelace are currently on death row.
