The incumbent Deputy Leader of the Jamaica Labour Party’s Area Four Council, Dr Horace Chang, says he is comfortable going into this morning’s leadership race.
His comments follow an email sent to the media in which Dr Chang is being quoted as calling for his supporters to refrain from intimidating opponents.
According to the email Dr Chang said persons in support of him have been issuing threats to the supporters of his opponents.
Dr Chang is being challenged by Agriculture Minister, Dr Christopher Tufton and attorney-at-law Don Foote for the position.
However, in an interview with the Gleaner/ Power 106 News Centre a short while ago, Dr Chang said he has no concerns going into today’s election.
While Dr Tufton said he is confident about his chances for victory in today’s elections.
He said he will be doing more to re-engage delegates who feel alienated if elected.
Voting is now underway at the Green Island High School in Hanover for the new Deputy Leader who will be in charge of the party’s political machinery in western Jamaica. The polls will close at approximately 3:00 p.m.
