Nepal plane crash

Local officials said ten Indians, two US citizens and a Japanese holidaymaker were among the passengers on the Buddha Air Beechcraft 1900D when it came down, together with three crew and three Nepali tourists.

The aircraft was on its way back from an hour-long tour of Mount Everest and other Himalayan peaks when it crashed in the village of Bisankunarayan, a few miles south of Kathmandu.

It had been trying to land in dense fog when the accident happened. Eyewitnesses said the plane collided with the roof of a house and then broke up.

Rescue workers pulled 18 bodies from the wreckage, but managed to find one person still alive.

However, they died hours later after being rushed to hospital. Local police and aviation officials have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
