Air Jamaica Revises Baggage Regulations
KINGSTON, September 24, 2009—Air Jamaica today announced that baggage regulations will be revised for passengers with tickets issued on or after September 25, 2009 for travel commencing October 14, 2009.
At that time, Economy Class passengers will be allowed two pieces of checked baggage and one carry-on piece, however a fee of US$25 will be charged for the second checked bag.
The revised policy will show a decrease in the fee for the first overweight bag from US$75 to US$50, for bags weighing 51 -70 pounds, and an increase in excess baggage charges within the Caribbean from US$80 to US$125 per bag. For Lovebird Executive Class passengers, the policy remains unchanged as the airline continues to allow three pieces of baggage and one piece carry-on at no charge.
The effective date and rates for the revised baggage policy between Jamaica and Canada will be published on approval by the Canadian Transportation Agency. The corresponding also applies for travel from Cuba.
