A week of high-calibre speakers and discussion are some of the key features organizers of Barbados’ inaugural International Business Week are promising.

Hosted by the Barbados International Business Association (BIBA), the sole body representing the interests of the international business sector in Barbados for about 12 years, in conjunction with its strategic partners, International Business Week has been in the works for close to four years and runs October 4 to 10, 2009.

The flagship event of the week – the International Business Week Conference under the theme: “The Way Forward for International Business in the Barbados Economy” – is expected to draw key figures in the local business world, who will hear Head of Fundamental Research at CPP Investment Board, Ian De Verteuil, and Chief Investment Strategist – Global Wealth Management Group, Morgan Stanley, David Darst, give solid strategies applicable to the current economic climate.

Executive Director of BIBA, Henderson Holmes, says the stellar line-up of speakers underscores the importance of international business, the contribution it makes to the economy, and the sector’s ability to respond to economic needs of the country in which over 3 500 international businesses operate.

Another key activity for the week is a public discussion forum on the topic: “How critical is the International Business sector to the recovery from the financial crisis”.
