2010 INDEPENDENCE SONG COMPETITION

The Grenada Cultural Foundation announces the beginning of registration for the 2010 Independence Song Competition. The 2010 song competition is a follow up the successful 2009 Independence calypso competition. The introduction of the Song Competition serves to include a variety of musical genres, including calypso, to an audience eager for great Grenadian talent.

The adjudication process for the preliminary stage of competition will take place via CDs. The Artistes will be required to perform the selection over an instrumental version. Registration will entail the submission of the original lyrical version of the song and the instrumental version of the song. The preliminary stage of competition will take place at the Deluxe Cinema in Grenville on Saturday January 16^th, 2010 at 10:00am.

25 Artistes will be chosen from this stage to move on to the Semifinals.

There will be a $10 registration fee.

The Semifinals will take place on January 23^rd, 2010 at Fond Recreation Grounds in St. Patrick. The 25 Semifinalists will perform with a live band. 15 Artistes will be chosen from this stage to contest the finals.

The Finals of the Independence Song Competition will take place on Saturday January 30^th, 2010. The 15 Finalists will perform with a live band.
