Christmas Messages - Grenada

Mrs. Emmalin Pierre
NNP Caretaker – St. Andrew’s South East

Pierre Brothers and sisters throughout the Tri-island State of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, as we celebrate this Christmas we must take time out to remember the true reason for the season.  It is undisputable that the true meaning of Christmas is love. John 3:16-17 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." The true meaning of Christmas is the celebration of that incredible act of love.
Unfortunately many children grow up to think that Christmas is about the toys they received and the special food they eat on Christmas day.  As many families are affected this year by the economic crisis we now face, I believe it is an excellent opportunity for us to take time out to share with our children the true meaning of Christmas.

To our young people, I wish to implore you as you celebrate this season which is traditionally filled with festivity, be mindful that a new year lies ahead of you.  As a matter of fact your whole life lies ahead of you.  Think hard before making choices especially those that can affect your future or change your life forever.

I encourage you to attend church services as part of your celebration activities, refrain from consuming alcohol and indulging in activities that are immoral or unhealthy.  Always consider the fact that a minute of pleasure can result in a life time of pain.

My prayer for everyone this Christmas is that you will continue to experience the true love of God and that you will pass it on to all those around you as you celebrate. Let us remember to look out for our less fortunate brothers and sisters and the elderly citizens among us.  Let us help in our own little ways to make this Christmas a special one for them.  A hug, a kiss, a smile and the words “I love you” can add up to more than the cost of expenses gifts.

On behalf of myself, my husband and two sons Joshua and Tafawa, I take this opportunity to say to all Grenadians at home and abroad – Have a Happy and Holy Christmas and may you be richly blessed this season and in the New Year.
