PM THOMAS FOR ACM/UNIC WORKSHOP


St. Augustine, December 5, 2009 -- Grenada Prime Minister, Hon. Tillman Thomas, will address the Opening Ceremony of 'Information for Action V' - the workshop that precedes the Fifth Biennial General Assembly of the ACM on December 10-12, 2009.

The Prime Minister will deliver his remarks to over 30 journalists from 14 Caribbean countries.

The theme of the workshop is: "Violence Against Women: Ending a Global Pandemic." It is being hosted by the ACM and the United Nations Information Centre for the Caribbean (UNIC) through support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Port of Spain and the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM).

The workshop will be followed by the ACM's Fifth Biennial General Assembly which has as its Special Guest, US journalist/author, Janine Warner. She will speak on the topic: "New Media for a New Age."

'State of the Media' Reports are expected from attending organisations and focal points and resolutions/motions are invited from representative groups.
Officers for the 2009-2011 Term will also be elected at the Assembly.
