Mexican authorities have rescued two journalists who were stranded for nearly three days among feuding militants after a caravan of rights activists was caught in a deadly ambush.
Mexican magazine Contralinea says photographer David Cilia and reporter Erika Ramirez are being escorted to safety by police. Cilia was wounded in the ambush outside a remote town in the southern state of Oaxaca.
Contralinea Reporter Mayela Sanchez said Friday the journalists were in stable condition and were being treated for injuries and dehydration.
Contralinea Director Miguel Badillo and Cilia’s father participated in the search near the remote town of San Juan Copala.
Two activists from Finland and Mexico were killed in the Tuesday attack.
