Former TV chef Juan-Carlos Cruz has been arrested for soliciting to commit murder. The ex-Food Network star allegedly asked homeless men to kill a person.
Cruz, who found fame in 2004 as the host of the network’s “Calorie Commando,” was busted Thursday afternoon in Santa Monica after a week-long undercover operation.
According to Los Angeles Times, police claimed Cruz approached homeless men on the streets a week earlier and asked them to kill someone for him. At least one of those men contacted police, and investigators were able to learn details of the alleged solicitation.
The intended target was not named, although several reports suggested it was his wife.
Cruz, 48, is currently being held in lieu of $5 million bail. He is set to be arraigned Monda
