CHARLESTON — A former Grenada police officer has been acquitted of sexual battery charges.
A Tallahatchie County jury deliberated two hours Tuesday before finding Donnie Tenner innocent of the charge. His attorney, Kevin Horan, said Tenner resigned from his post at the police department after being on unpaid administrative leave for months.
Investigators with the state attorney general’s office arrested Tenner in November and accused him of using his authority as an officer and substitute teacher to coerce a teenage girl into a sexual relationship.
Horan said the relationship was consensual, and had happened 11 years ago. State Attorney General Jim Hood did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
