KINGSTON, Jamaica, Monday July 5, 2010 – Two Jamaican police officers are being questioned by their colleagues in connection with an attempted robbery and kidnapping over the weekend.

The first – a police constable – was held shortly after the incident on Saturday evening, while the other, Detective Constable Nish, was picked up at an apartment complex yesterday.

According to reports, three people were in the parking lot at Mega Mart in Catherine Hall, Montego Bay just after 6 o’clock when two policemen forced them into a vehicle and sped off with them.

Police subsequently launched a search and were able to intercept the vehicle and rescue the kidnapping victims. They also took one of the officers into custody, but the other one escaped.

Lawmen then issued a statement describing Nish as a major person of interest and advised him to immediately turn himself in at any police station.
