Crime clearance rate still a problem

Go Jamaica…..

Jamaica News

Despite the fall off in major crimes in June, the police are still having difficulties solving these cases. Police statistics released today shows that only 16 percent of the 91 murders committed in June were cleared up.

The statistics also shows that 22 percent of the 92 shooting cases reported last month were cleared up, while the clear up rate for robberies and break-ins was 12 percent each.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Glenmore Hinds says this partly because of a shortage of personnel and the fact that investigations take time.
