Two Chinese nationals killed in warehouse accident

ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC -The manager of a Chinese construction company in Grenada and one of his employees were killed following an accident at a warehouse in the south of the island on Monday.

Police said that Ren Ke and his employee, Feng Shuanggui from Beijing, were killed when a container with glass windows broke burying them underneath.

The men were employed with Long Don Construction Manufacturing Company Ltd, one of several companies from Beijing operating on the island.

“…they were offloading the glasses from the container. They were very heavy. They were in the container and they were buried in the glasses,” said Ambassdor Zhang Wan Hai, head of the Chinese Embassy here.

“Nothing could be done so the two of them were killed. It was an accident so it was a very sad incident. The ambulance was called but when it arrived on the scene nothing could be done,” he added.

Ren Ke, leaves to mourn his wife and a three-year-old boy, who are resident in Grenada.

A number of Chinese have been awarded contracts to build roads and schools since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 2005.
