Search on for overboard cruise ship worker

Royal The captain reportedly turned the ship around and headed back to the area where the man went overboard. The Coast Guard was also alerted.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, Friday May 7, 2010 – A search is being conducted by the United States Coast Guard for a Royal Caribbean cruise ship worker who went overboard the Explorer of the Seas on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old reportedly climbed over the railings of the vessel which was on a 10-day voyage that began in New Jersey and is scheduled to get back there on Saturday.

His identity has not been released.

US media reports indicate that the young man had been reported missing by his colleagues on Wednesday night and when officials reviewed the ship’s video cameras, they saw him lowering himself over the side of the boat.

The captain reportedly turned the ship around and headed back to the area where the man went overboard. The Coast Guard was also alerted.
